Saturday 1st February 2025 saw the launch of the inaugural Rabbit Run from We Run Wild NI in Ballypatrick Forest park, offering 3 race distances: 10km, half and full marathon. Mercifully conditions were dry(ish) and milder than of late, though with the wind chill at the this elevated and exposed location it won’t have felt like race vest weather.
Representing Glens Runners in the half marathon were Malachy Conlon and Ally McKeown while Padraic Quinn, Catriona Wheeler, Patricia McCollam, Kathryn Reid and Rose Reid opted for the 10km.
First home for the Glens and in second place overall with a fantastic performance was Padraic Quinn in 46:12!
Over in the half marathon first home home for the Glens Runners in a blistering 1hr35, particularly given the terrain and 380+m elevation gain, was Ally McKeown finishing 4th overall with Malachy Conlon posting impressive 1hr43.
In the ladies race the standout effort came from Catriona Wheeler who managed to finish in 56:23, which would be considered a solid time for a trail 10k but much more impressive for the almost 11k Catriona completed after naively trusting former friend of Glens Runners Fergal ‘i’m sure ive seen that tree before‘ Higgins with navigational duties on the fully marked course.
