Truly miserable New Year’s day weather greeted the almost 600 runners who braved the forest park for this year’s Race Over the Glen. The cold, wind and rain weren’t enough to deter a large contingent of Glen Runners, though those of us sporting only a race vest were quick to regret the choice. The suffering was not to be in vain as the reward, hypothermia notwithstanding, was a podium finish in both the male and female events and a ladies team win!
Jonny Steede retained his 3rd place spot from last year in an impressive 42:47 with very little to separate 2nd, 3rd and 4th pace finishers. Naomi McCurry also placed 3rd in the ladies race in 50:31, only 20 seconds behind the winner!
The Race Over the Glen 2025 Ladies team winners were Naomi McCurry, Kelly-Ann McAuley in 52:06 and 1st FV35 (not pictured), Rachael McLaughlin in 56:30 and Lucy O’Dell in 57:10 who was also 3rd in her category.
