McConnell Shield xc

Glens runners had good representation at East Antrim Harriers’ McConnell Shield cross country race in Ballyclare on Saturday 2nd Nov, with 3 men and 6 ladies making the journey.

First out in the 3 mile ladies event at 1:15pm we had Naomi McCurry, Paula McCarthy, Marie Kerr, Linda Gettens, Anna Steede and Kathryn Reid. Honorable mentions go to Naomi storming home in 20:16 for 13th overall, Paula in 21:02 for 3rd V40, 21st overall and Marie in 21:15 for 22nd overvall but there were strong performances across the board over the heavy xc terrain with Linda coming in 24:16, Anna 26:42 and Kathryn 27:04.

Kicking off at 2pm in the 5 mile men’s race we had Jonny Steede, Kevin O’Boyle and Conan Brown. All 3 put in great shifts and blistering pace, particularly on grass, with Jonny coming in 1st v40 in 29:28, Kevin 5th V45 in 32:38 and Conan in 35:21.
